account. Position Summary: The Department of Civil, Environmental &
Geomatics Engineering ( http://www.cege.fau.edu ) at Florida
Atlantic University welcomes applications for an Assistant
Professor position in the general area of Transportation
Engineering. The department is particularly interested in
candidates who can contribute to one or more of the following
areas: durability and resiliency of infrastructure under multiple
natural hazards, design and maintenance of resilient infrastructure
systems, transportation planning and operations, AI in
Transportation, travel behavior and demand modeling, emerging
technologies in transportation, and sustainable and resilient
transportation. While an Assistant Professor is sought, outstanding
candidates at all ranks will be considered The Department of Civil,
Environmental & Geomatics Engineering (CEGE) hosts 3
ABET-accredited undergraduate programs, a Master’s degree in Civil
Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Transportation and Environmental
Engineering with about 400 undergraduate and 100 graduate students.
The faculty is highly interdisciplinary and conducts research
primarily in the broad thematic areas of Urban Mobility ,
Infrastructure, and Sustainability/Resilience . The Department has
three research centers: the Center for Infrastructure and
Constructed Facilities ( fau.edu/engineering/cege/research/cicf/ ),
the Center for Water Resiliency and Risk Reduction ( cwr3.fau.edu
), and the Freight Mobility Research Institute ( fmri.fau.edu . The
FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science is in the top three
fastest progressing engineering colleges in the nation (US News and
World Report Rankings 2020-2022). The college offers degrees with a
modern twist that bear specializations in areas of national
priority such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity,
internet-of-things, transportation and supply chain management, and

Applicants must have a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and a Ph.D.
in Transportation Engineering or a closely related area within
Civil Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to
build and publish results from independent and/or collaborative
research programs, teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate
students, and participate in professional and departmental service
activities. Professional licensure, or the ability to become
licensed during the first three years of employment, is highly
