We are seeking a senior-level Component Product Engineer for the development, fabrication and test of RL10 propulsion system valve and actuator or electronic hardware. This opportunity will be located at our facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. This position may be filled at this level as posted or the next higher level. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) Working under limited general direction, determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, and practices. 25% - Development and fabrication support of rocket engine valve and actuator components; translates engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through product life cycle. 25% - Supplier integration with external suppliers ensuing requirements are achieved on time and within budget. 20% - Interface with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to provide coordination of technical, schedule and cost solutions to team objectives. 20% - Analyzes and verifies valve and actuator design and performance for adequacy and reliability. Support investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by preventative action/corrective action boards or safety initiative activities. 10% - Develop trade studies, design concepts, systems integration and component-level test plans. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and at least 5 years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Experience with liquid rocket propulsion systems desired. Understanding and use of analytical, design or process procedures pertinent to Rocket engine valve and actuator advanced development, electronic component experience at plus. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, develop planning and procedures for assembly and test; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; effective presentation and report writing skills will be required. Project skills in developing MS Project scheduling and Earned Value Measurement Systems is considered a plus. Tasks may require the use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and/or various computer systems. Must have ability to operate effectively in a team environment. Demonstrated leadership skills are highly desirable. US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
