SandyPines Residential Treatment Center is a 149 bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The Cook prepares food for residents, staff and visitors and assumes responsibilities for the daily operations of the department in the absence of the Lead and Director. Key Responsibilities include:

• Appraises food quality; meats are tender and flavorful, cooked to the proper degree and are not fatty, greasy, or dry.
• Assures that vegetables are cooked and seasoned properly.
• Assures that pastas, rice, potatoes and other starches are properly prepared.
• Assures that soups are properly cooked and seasoned to produce correct flavor.
• Assures that meals are ready for consumption at the proper times.
• Has the ability to properly carve and serve on the serving line, by controlling portion requirements.
• Maintains temperature charts of all kitchen refrigeration equipment.
• Assures that floors are properly swept and mopped daily.
• Assures that all food contact surfaces are properly cleaned and sanitized.
• Assures that all kitchen equipment is in proper running condition and is clean and sanitary.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of regulatory and accreditation of government standards regarding sanitation, temperature controls, and proper food handling.
• Follows proper food handling and sanitation policies for all food preparation and storing procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and role in risk management, safety, infection control, emergency operational plans, and hospital policies and procedures.
  Qualifications
  
  Position Requirements:
  • 2 years institutional food service experience.
  • Detail oriented and ability to successfully multi task in a fast pace environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and organization skills.
